DJ, musician and producer Ronn Sono, otherwise known as Ron van Kroonenburg, could never be accused of lacking energy. From his solid work ethic to the upbeat and uplifting music he produces and plays, he is a force to be reckoned with on many levels. Already established as one of the strongest remix artists and recognised as a go-to guy for some of the scenes biggest and best players, he is here with a fresh approach and an unstoppable drive to send his own career supernova.
Ronn Sono brings monumental amounts of energy to any project he is involved with. His Four-leaf Clover philosophy, which combines confidence, happiness, love and hope, is indicative of a truly positive attitude that is evident in his music, his career and in his overall outlook on life. It is an attitude that has served him well. This disposition coupled with his genuine talent and passion for production and technology, has seen him make a real impression in the industry. Now, with more than 16 years of experience under his belt and a reputation that is totally rock solid, his focus is shifting towards his solo work. Prepare for great things!
Ronn Sono’s history and back-catalogue are already impressive. Utilising a love for music that has been present since watching Top of the Pops in the late 70’s at the age of 4, he has systematically been laying the foundations for greater things. Ronn’s actual career began in 1995, by releasing music on the famous First Impression label. At the same time he collaborated with Robin ‘Jaydee’ Albers (of Plastic Dreams fame) on Jaydee’s remix for Duke – A New Beginning. Besides Jaydee, Ronn Sono has shared studio time with many great artists including Marco V, Benjamin Bates and Fedde Le Grand, and he has put his remixing skills to work for heavyweights like Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, SNAP, Deep Zone and many others.
As well as remixing some of the biggest and best, his own productions have gained some huge international exposure. Ronn Sono’s collaborations with good friend Thice Santoro resulted in Freeloader (Spinnin’ Records). Under the guise Driftwood they had an instant smash played by just about everyone and were featured on compilations that sold in excess of two and a half million copies. The track received massive airtime across Europe, resulting in multiple DJ sets across the continent and even an appearance on Top of the Pops! Their latest project ‘Momentum’ enjoyed similar support by none other than David Guetta, Tiësto, Laidback Luke and Hardwell to name but a few, and has moved many dance floors around the globe. At the moment Ronn is collaborating with house phenomenon Fedde le Grand, marking him once and for all as someone able to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s best and still make his mark.
The success of these numerous projects has given Ronn Sono the drive to push his own skills harder and further. The transition from established respect to international stardom shouldn’t be a hard one for this talented, experienced artist. He has already been invited to work on releases that span some of dance music’s biggest labels. Flamingo, Defected, Black Hole, Armind, Positiva, Ministry Of Sound, Spinnin’ Records and Blackbird have all asked for Ronn Sono’s contributions to the canons.
With his drive to succeed completely beyond doubt, prepare to see some truly exciting Ronn Sono releases coming soon. 2011 started off with a performance at Sensation White and with his eyes fixed firmly on the future, this creative guy with his mastery of technical knowledge in music and his Four-leaf Clover philosophy will be ripping up the speaker stacks somewhere in your vicinity very soon.
